While the calendar and late-summer heat tell us it is still summer, we know fall is coming, and with it, the best time of the year to plant (and care for) trees!
We have received more than 40 requests for trees this fall, and while some people still need to remove a dead or dying tree, and others really don’t have room for another tree (we love you for wanting one!), at least 35 residents have been tentatively chosen for larger canopy trees. They will be contacted, our city arborist will make a tentative decision about what tree would be good in the space, and she will leave a door hanger, if residents are not home, with her choice and contact information if they have questions.
Requests for trees are ongoing–the City Council has approved 60 for this fiscal year–so don’t hesitate to submit your request by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling the city phone line: 654-8145. We need your name, address, phone, and email address, if you have one.
If you have a new tree, please continue to water as needed until winter. If you have mature trees that need pruning, fall is a good time to do it. Also, don’t forget to give your mature trees the occasional good soaking. Enjoy the glorious fall colors, and, as always, thank you for helping to
Re-Tree the Park!
